Part of the Berwick community for over 40 years, CraigCare has a long-standing reputation for providing exceptional clinical and relationship-based care within a supportive and homely living environment.

Our single level home is a small intimate home with a strong family feel. It contains 102 bedrooms with a variety of single and companion rooms. This allows choice for either your own privacy, for couples to stay together or for residents to make new and close friends through a companion room.

Our beautiful home includes gardens and courtyards that are the ideal place to keep active and entertain visitors. We have an outdoor barbeque area for the family to gather over a meal. Families are always welcome and encouraged to join their loved ones for a meal as often as they wish. Our raised garden beds allow for residents to continue their love of gardening, should they wish.

Our home has a Registered Nurse on duty 24/7, supported by a dedicated team of care staff. All residents have access to specialist services including physiotherapists, regular visits to GPs and geriatricians, speech pathologists, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists, and wound specialists. CraigCare’s in-house dietitian also provides individualised meal plans for each of our residents who may have specific dietary requirements. Our focus on relationship-centred care ensures residents are involved in planning how our services are delivered to them.

CraigCare Berwick partners with community organisations to ensure our residents are provided with the highest standard of care at all times. This includes partnerships with the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department and South East Melbourne In Reach Service, which means our residents avoid having to wait for locum doctors after hours or possibly a trip to an emergency department. We also partner with South East Palliative Care, South East Aged Persons Mental Health and Dementia Support Australia to ensure we can always deliver on the individual needs of each of our residents.

Our home has 10 companion rooms in our Memory Lane Community. This is a fully secure area of our home that is dedicated to the specific needs of people living with dementia. Being a very small community, this allows for a more personalised approach and a higher level of staff support for residents living with dementia. Our Memory Lane Community has been built for creating a calm, reassuring home-like environment for people living with dementia. It has easy access to a secure outdoor courtyard which allows residents to continue to enjoy the outdoors – whether that be listening to the birds, enjoying a coffee or a meal outside, or for those keen on gardening getting their hands dirty tending to the plants and herbs.

CraigCare Berwick offers a wide and inclusive choice of leisure and lifestyle activities including movies, music, professional entertainers, social activities, exercise groups, art classes, gardening and library services. We also have some strong community partnerships which keep our residents regularly connected to their local community. We have regular visits with children from Busy Bee Childcare in Narre Warren and Hey Dee Ho as well as visits from the Berwick Lodge Primary School children. We also have community partnerships with our local churches Melbourne Light Church and Our Lady of Christian.

Our residents are able to enjoy regular excursions using the home’s private bus to locations including Westfield Fountain Gate and Parkhill Shopping Centre, Berwick Springs Wetlands Reserve, and various local community and sporting clubs.

Residents are encouraged to engage in these lifestyle activities as well as continue with their everyday routines (e.g. collecting their morning paper or starting the day with a morning walk). This ensures their lives remain their own.
